Code with the Carolinas Volunteer Model

Code with the Carolinas is made up of people who are interested in changing our communities. We work with government and nonprofits to improve public services and leverage open data to improve knowledge, transparency, and accountability. Current projects relate to housing, pedestrian accessibility, affordable broadband, and open government.

There are plenty of opportunities to use your skills! Even if you are not a tech type, there will be opportunities for you to contribute. We welcome all skill levels and types - no coding or government experience is necessary. So connect with us and become part of a movement to improve our states!

1 Projects

The Code with the Carolinas volunteer model is based on our project work.

Attend inclusive project work sessions to contribute to hands-on incremental progress on our projects. Work individually, asynch, as much as you want. There is always more work that requires our general skills than our specialized skills. Goal: 2x month

See the Partnerships page for more details about our projects.

2 Connection

Connection with other volunteers is also an important part of our volunteer model.

Meet other volunteers, contribute to decision making, and share project updates at Monthly Meetings, Coffee Chats, 1:1 conversations, and occasional in-person events. Goal: 1x month, more for core team and focal points

3 Side Quests

The occasional "side quest" completes the Code with the Carolinas volunteer model.

Individual, asynch, or small group activities, often applying more specialized skills toward short term project or organizational needs. Goal: flexible, as needed, inclusively and equitably
